OUR HISTORY

Meier Tool & Engineering Inc. is a privately held custom manufacturer producing small, miniature & micro-sized metalformed components & sub-assemblies for demanding applications.

Richard (Rick) Meier started the company in the basement of his home in 1979.  Although we started out as a design & die making company, we have progressively broadened our capabilities to include production and assembly.  Through the years the company has grown and currently resides in its world-class, 35,000 square foot facility in the Minneapolis/St. Paul, Minnesota metropolitan area.

The following are some of our historical highlights:

Building 1980s

1980's

  • Specialized in designing and building precision progressive metalforming dies.
  • Broadened capability beyond die making to include production of metalformed components.  Purchased our first precision high speed press.
  • Built our own facility in Champlin, MN.
  • Started a dedicated design and engineering department.
  • Introduced wire EDM technology to increase die making capacity.

Building 1990s

1990's

  • Doubled the size of our Champlin facility.
  • Expanded toolmaking capabilities to include CNC machining centers.
  • Became ISO 9001 certified.
  • Shipped the first product for overseas export.
  • Established our dedicated prototyping department.
  • Designed and built our current Anoka, MN facility.

Buiding 2000s

2000's

  • Added laser welding and manual assembly.
  • Became ISO 13485 certified.
  • Established our short-run department for small lot production.
  • Added high speed CNC hard milling capabilities; machining of heat treated alloys.
  • Expanded our assembly capabilities to include robotics.
  • Joined the Cretex family of companies.
  • Celebrated 30 years of dedicated service to our customers.
